Serment - Contract With A Devil Beta Demo Mac OS

Fulfill your contract with the devil in this visual novel/dungeon crawler mix with free dungeon exploration

There are hundreds of stories about people who sold their soul to the devil, and almost all of them end badly for the people in question. Hence, it’s quite obvious that you cannot trust the devil to play fair or tell you the whole truth, so it’s a lot safer to just avoid any kind of deal with him. On the other hand, things are rarely as black and white as that.

A contract with the devil gets you back to life

Serment - Contract with a Devil is an unusual mix of visual novel and dungeon crawler elements in which you play the role of a girl who makes a deal with the devil. In essence, most of the game is centered around dialog and the story itself, but you are also free to explore dungeons and fight enemies in order to gain gold and better items to make yourself a lot stronger.

The story is pretty weird as well, but that’s good for a visual novel. Hence, it all starts when your character dies and finds herself in a dark place. Lucifer makes an appearance - although she is actually a cute girl here - and makes you an offer: make a deal to get you back to the living world. As it turns out, the price of the resurrection is in money, and a lot of it. Thus, the rest of the game is spent trying to get the money for the devil.

Beautiful landscapes and nice graphics

There are multiple character classes to choose from in the beginning, and they each have a different play style and combat abilities. As for the actual battles, they take place in turns, and each character or monster gets a chance to attack and deal as much damage as possible. You gain experience and gold after every victory, and some of that gold can be used to purchase better gear.

Most of the static environments are very detailed and enjoyable, especially when it comes to backgrounds and the character design. However, the dungeons are a tad repetitive and boring most of the time, since there’s nothing to see but gray walls and the occasional creature. Moreover, the user interface is still in the works, which means that the current one is just a placeholder.

A promising game with a few new ideas

In the end, Serment - Contract with a Devil is not an entirely new concept, but it’s done pretty well, and it has the capability to become a hit with certain crowds. Hence, if you are up for an adventure and you need something light to keep you entertained.
